Sarah Poynter

My work is very process led with most pieces going through a series of processes before arriving at its final point. My work combines paint, photography and print with found images and textures to create abstract landscape based images. I am interested in possibilities, journeys, and experience, in the lines we follow and the ones we leave behind. Our tracings. I am forever searching. Not for the answers, but for beginnings. I want to fill myself up with experiences. I want to keep them safe in my mind. I stand on an edge, consumed by awe in the vastness of the landscape. It offers me the sublime, an open doorway to my internal landscape. The land fails to preserve like the memory that eventually fails our minds. Time weathers everything. Earth is diluted, washed away by the rivers that carve the land and the tides that fray the edges.
