Monkey Park Artists

Chesterfield / Mixed media

Helen Pollitt, ceramics. I am passionate about clay, I love that it comes from the earth as malleable material and that on the wheel with my hands I can create functional forms. Glazing and firing transforms my work into a colourful solid object; I aspire to create ceramics that are both useful and beautiful. My pottery studio is in my garden in Chesterfield. [email protected] Karon Mather, acrylic painter. My work reflects my passion for the natural environment. I focus mainly on woodlands and nature in my paintings. Each piece of my work holds a special place in my heart and I do hope that this is communicated in my paintings. [email protected] Guy Badham, Chesterfield-based Nature, Wildlife and Landscape Photographer. Supplies images to Derbyshire Wildlife Trust and Visit Peak District. Provides tailor-made nature photography training courses. I am fascinated by the beauty of our world and try to show this in my images. A photograph captures a brief moment in time but gives us the opportunity to study the wonder of nature at leisure. [email protected] Caroline Bagnall, Derbyshire Artist. My work captures life as it happens around me, for example on a train or in a waiting room. I like to keep my pen and watercolours or I pad drawings loose and gestural. For me a few marks can communicate the mood and character of a particular event better than a well-laboured work. [email protected] Chloe White, acrylic multi-media artist. Chloe enjoys using colour on canvas or whatever comes to hand. With a love of nature her work takes a playful look at wildlife and landscapes of the UK. As a home educating mum of two there is never a dull moment which often provides unexpected inspiration for her work’s quirky, bright and illustrative style. [email protected] Deborah Miles, recycled tin. My work is inspired by my passion for local wildlife. The tilt of a head or particular movement that forms the essence of an animal is what I aim to capture in my quirky creations. I feel sustainability is important; there is something rather special about making old redundant materials into prized and loved objects. [email protected] Dawn Turner, kiln fired glass. Dawn graduating from Derby in 2010, she uses a variety of techniques and ideas. “I am fascinated by scientific imagery. From microscopic worlds to satellite photographs I see patterns, textures and shapes that occur and repeat”. Dawn has participated in several exhibitions, including the last two Contemporary Glass Society shows during the International Festival of Glass. [email protected] Helen Barber, Mixed Media Artist. I love the work of contemporary artists Lisa Larsson, Stig Lindberg, Nancy Pickard and Sandrine Herlin. I am drawn to animals, simple fluid shapes, a generous portion of humour, lashings of colour and a leaning towards the ridiculous. I graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a Ba Hons in Fashion Textiles specialising in illustration and knitwear design. helenbarber03egmail.com
