Buxton / Contemporary fine art and craft
The Green Man is an independent art gallery and creative hub, managed and run by its artist members with the support of a team of community volunteers.
The gallery began life as a temporary pop-up in November 2012 and has now developed into a vibrant arts centre with regularly changing exhibitions by members, guest artists and designer makers; a programme of workshops and classes, and live music, theatre and spoken word events at the weekend.
The gallery’s current home is a Victorian hotel building with a fascinating history, situated behind the Buxton Museum and Art Gallery on Terrace Road. Since September 2014 we have been transforming its dilapidated rooms into a bright contemporary gallery and so far we have created exhibition and workshop spaces on three floors. The ground floor gallery in the former ballroom is completely accessible by wheelchair but regrettably the upper floors can only be reached by stairs.
Ten artists will be exhibiting at The Green Man Gallery for Derbyshire Open Arts 2016
