Alan Matkin

I am a Derbyshire based photographer living within easy reach of the neighbouring counties of Yorkshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Staffordshire. My photographic style evolves from many areas of interest, for example; traditional, candid and lifestyle portraits, family celebrations, still life, re-enactments, themed events and live performances. I also have a passion for creating images based around activities in the workshop/garage, cityscapes, urban exploration and areas of decay and decline, I am always fascinated by the amazing effect light has on small smoke trails from incense sticks as they burn, and the amazing shapes created from a simple act of pouring water into a glass. As a photographer I believe it is important to have an individual approach to your subject, to make it personal and unique, and to develop a style that changes with you as you grow. Like any other visual art its not about what you see, but how you see it. Photography is a fantastic, expressive, and satisfying art form, a powerful means of communication that touches human life in many ways. The digital camera has made it possible for us to freely use this artistic license to try different things.
